How many of you are feeling this? Winter, she keeps holding on, showing up, sharing her beautifully crafted snowflakes, really they are amazing. However, not all of us are excited anymore, many are struggling, mentally, physically, emotionally and are just over it.

I was going through the struggle early last week (full moon anyone?). I was reminded that we’ve been under many feet of snow, cloudy days, and the desire to not move once we are home. So, I took a deep breath, exhaled and wondered, how am I going to get through the next six weeks or so?

In the last couple of years I have been making intentions of connecting more with the earth energy and nature overall. I was looking at the trees, imagining the ground underneath all the snow, the flower bulbs anticipating warmer days, the animals that have been scrounging for food, and they are simply going with the flow. What else is there to do? One option is the trees could get mad, fed up with the weather, and begin to show buds, along with the grass and flowers in the ground trying to bloom. If the grass, flower bulbs or trees start to try to bloom before they are supposed to they would not sustain. There would be no beautiful spring days. It’s all in divine timing.

What if we are the same? Well, actually we are. We are part of nature and the sooner one embraces this and learns to be in the flow the easier life can be.

What things can you start working on now so that when spring and summer come you are prepared? What kinds of activities do you look forward to doing? Gardening, bicycle riding, walking outside, golfing, being more active? Is your body ready? What are you doing for your mind? Have you tried guided meditation or even listening to nature sounds to get yourself in the mindset of the change of seasons? Change is always happening, what if you started to plan to change, update your idea of embracing the change of seasons?

Do you see how patience can play a part in this? If we focus strictly on the winter it becomes almost unbearable, however, if we allow ourselves to be in the flow, to be present and also prepare, just like nature, we can be in alignment for ourselves. We can allow peace to enter and be centered when the next amazing snowflake comes floating down from the sky.

With daylight savings time, set an intention when updating the clocks that the change will be easy, effortless and smooth for your body, mind and soul (for pets and children, all bets are off!).

Winter Days

I had to run to the store just now, it’s 6:30 pm. I just realized that what I thought was a pimple (yes, at age 62) is actually a cold
