As a child of the 60’s and 70’s I had the opportunity to go on many adventures, especially during the summer months. I remember waking up on a beautiful summer morning, eating breakfast and then taking off on my bike to see what I could find. I was exploring life and all the wonderful things it held.

Recently on a phone call session, I was talking with a client and we were sharing about being children and how we could spend hours playing in the mud, looking and collecting worms, and simply exploring a spider web and what was caught in it.

Do you have adventures in your life? Oh, I’m not talking about getting in your vehicle on a Monday morning and instead of going to work you just keep driving, that is a VERY radical adventure and not too many of us can handle that kind of excitement!

No, the adventures I’m talking about are the ones where you set intentions of smiling throughout the day, to just keep your thoughts lifted and share positive energy. Adventures where you leave dimes or quarters in random places for children or even adults to find. The giddiness of knowing you are causing delight in another person’s life when they find that random coin. Adventures of taking a walk in a neighborhood or park. Take time to look around, see the trees, birds, squirrels, grass and really see this big beautiful earth we reside on.

There was a quote I read recently that was talking about finding a person to share your life with, and in this quote it stated to find the person that will make even going to the grocery store an adventure. I thought, I want to make the mundane into adventures.

So often we get caught up in the day to day “to do” list and busy-ness that we forget there is so much more to this life. Take time to daydream, to just doodle, to watch the clouds move, to take in a breath and really feel it expand your lungs. Being aware of your surroundings helps you to be more present. What can you do today to create more adventures in your life?
