Two students sitting in library looking bored

Changing sheets, washing the dishes, wiping down counters, vacuuming and outdoor chores. Oh how we can think of many ways to avoid these tasks. We complain about having to do “chores”, however, the mundane chores can help us feel stable, in control, and empowered. What if, instead of dreading, that we create a nurturing ritual? So often we are caught up in the busy-ness of life, checking off the to-do list and seeing or thinking how much more we need to accomplish.

Imagine, each time you do a chore, you are creating order and calmness in your life? Let the mind know, it’s time to create some space for peace, calmness, creativity. Create scents, whether they be the cleaning products, candles, essential oil, soaps or whatever you enjoy so when your nose smells these, your body reacts in a positive way? That it automatically calms itself? One of the reasons I use my smudge spray at every session is that I want you and your body to remember this scent and how much a positive experience you had. The body easily and effortlessly relaxes and softness from stress and tension.

Do you have a bunch of stuff piled up, or the catch-all room? These things can hold energy, and create a denseness that you may not be aware of. No matter how much sage you use that energy is not going to lift. Overwhelmed by the catch-all room? I get it, really, I do. That stuff can multiply like nobody’s business and before you know it the room is full. Your life and body can be that way also. Sometimes we need outside help to dismantle and disassemble. There are professional organizers (I can recommend someone) that will come in and help you, even if it’s just a closet that you want help with. Sometimes coming in for a session can help you jump-start your own internal dismantling of the busyness of your mind.

Recently, I’ve worked with clients to have them experience being grounded and calmed. I connect with their energy, and pull the energy down, into their body. They are working with me, and I am simply showing them through energy how to do this. One client had a memory come up that had been holding her back and she hadn’t realized it. Once that memory was cleared, the ease of calming came so much easier. It’s amazing how much the mind will slow down and create space for calming through this practice.

Can you see how the mundane plays a huge part in our lives? Chores, aware of accumulated stuff, and being present aka grounded, what steps can you take this week to celebrate and honor these things so your life can be in an easier flow?

Winter Days

I had to run to the store just now, it’s 6:30 pm. I just realized that what I thought was a pimple (yes, at age 62) is actually a cold
