How much of our lives are based on fear. It can be overwhelming and sometimes even making us be unable to even think straight.

What I have found through years of exploration is to face those fears. Look at them, and reduce the hold the fear has over you. Sometimes just doing that can help me calm down and see things for where they are. This allows me to make decisions from a more centered and grounded space.

Sometimes fear is just outside of your vision, I think of it in terms just outside the peripheral vision, thereby making the fear be bigger than it is. Our minds take off and create all kinds of stories, scenarios, doom and gloom. We start believing these fears that we’ve created because we can’t seem to SEE them. In talking with a client, I encourage them to look at it with me, let’s demystify the fear. Break it down into bite-size pieces and see it for what it is. Something that is keeping us from being present for ourselves.

Fear has no preference and isn’t picky about where it is. All walks of life have some sort of fear. To some degree, it is part of our make-up as a human. The most basic of fear is the survival of self. When we were growing up, if our basic needs were met, but they were met with chaos, a sense of not feeling safe or trauma, it is difficult to not have fear in the make-up of the energetic body. So, when you try to meditate or calm the body it can be quite a challenge.

There are other types of fear also, that’s the interesting aspect of it. Fear has so many facets and is multi-dimensional. It can be a sneaky bugger also!

Fear also isn’t judgmental; it also can affect our successes. Fear of success is also a real thing. We sometimes sabotage ourselves because the fear of success is too much. What if we succeed? What are the changes that will need to happen? Will I be able to meet those needs? What if I can’t sustain the success?

Can you see a consistency here? Fear is part of your life. Why not embrace it? Acknowledge this long-timer friend of yours and be aware that it is always by your side. We’ve all had friends that are quiet, soft-spoken and others that are a bit more high energy and talkative. The cool thing about fear is that you get to decide what kind of friend it is for you. Do you want it to be loud and chattering in your thoughts all the time or quiet and soft-spoken or something in between?

How to do this? When you become aware, that is the key word, aware, that fear is keeping you from doing something you’ve wanted to do, you get to look at ALL options. What if you have a great experience, what if you make a memory, what if something positive happens in your life that provides an opportunity to embrace the life you’ve been desiring to live?

Does this seem like too big of a challenge? Well, silly goose, get yourself in for a session and let’s dismantle the fear(s), shift the energy and release. Your body and mind will thank you!
