I used to worry about what others would think about me. In my 20s especially, it was important to never leave the house without make-up, jewelry, looking put-together. My mind was constantly worrying about the judgment from others, whether it was the way I looked, my behavior, what I said, didn’t say, feeling like I was constantly on egg shells. I created this “mind cage” and it was a good one albeit debilitating. At times I felt like I was living a dual life, the one people saw and the one I actually lived. It was exhausting.
As I aged, I found myself caring less and less about what others thought about me. If anything, if they were going to judge, I hoped they created some outlandish story about me. Who wants to be judged for something boring and mundane?
I was 55 years old when I quit my secure, insurance covered, vacation and sick leave options job to become a full-time energy healer. My oldest brother and sister-in-law helped me immensely by providing a loan so I could get on my feet. My brother has mentioned that he wondered if I could make it. He has been extremely surprised by his littlest sister (and may I say very proud also).
When I started this business, I was worried about the naysayers, the ones that would doubt my thinking, my abilities and possibly even cause so much doubt in myself that I would quit. A friend gave me the quote “Don’t let those who aren’t in tune with you, distract you from those who are.”
This shifted my thinking and I stopped putting my energy into the people that didn’t get it and started focusing on those who did. The people that were looking for something more, the ones that knew there was more to this human experience started scheduling sessions. This also encouraged me to step further out of the “woo woo closet” and shine my light. Gaining more confidence, knowing that I am not alone and connecting with so many very cool, interesting, intriguing people has been amazing!
I am sensing that 2025 is going to be an extraordinary transition to connecting with more individuals that are looking to understand energy, positive mindset and to see beyond the numbing day to day drudgery. Check out the below paragraph regarding Etc. for Her Magazine.
Also, a new weekly “Get To Know Yourself” question will be posted, check it out below. Very often, regardless of age, when I ask, who are you? Most people don’t have any idea how to describe themselves. I usually set the stage, we are sitting in a circle, and each of us are asked to describe ourselves. If you were not allowed to say, married, single, divorced, children, grandchildren, what you do for a job, what you volunteer for, what would you say?

Etc. For Her
When I originally went full-time in 2016 I had the idea of possibly putting an ad in a local magazine. Energy healing, Reiki and what I was offering was pretty much unknown in 2016. I did not have the financial means to do such advertising so I got creative and used a variety of other marketing techniques. One of my goals was to make Reiki/Energy Healing natural and accepted, just like going to the dentist, doctor or other appointments.
The end of November, I received in the office mail, an opportunity to put an ad in the Etc. For Her magazine. The price was very reasonable and they would even create the ad at no cost! It felt like Divine timing! I took them up on the opportunity.
While this is a wordy explanation, I feel like I’ve made it! To stand in my light, share my talents, insight, gifts to a broader distribution than I’ve ever been able to do so feels amazing! They print 15,000 – 18,000 and distribute to over 150 distribution points!
I tell you, yeah, you, silly goose, I could not have gotten to this point without you! I am so grateful for your support!
