Sitting on Saturday morning contemplating what to write for this week’s newsletter. I tap into the consciousness and it feels like there’s a need to nurture ones-self. What does that mean to you?
I was reminded the other day of when I was the Executive Assistant-CEO and how I despised December. It was budget time, along with planning holiday events, the staff meeting, and a variety of other responsibilities. Then, getting home as a single parent and navigating purchasing gifts for my children, figuring out what all needs to get done, then needing to go to Watertown for the large family gathering. I was so overwhelmed. One Christmas I literally didn’t have the energy to wrap the kid’s gifts. So, I sat in front of them, their gifts in large garbage bags and I “presented” each gift to them from the black garbage bag. That was our Christmas. That’s the best I could come up with. There wasn’t a special meal. I did the best I could.
If you are having this kind of December, or somewhere on the spectrum of it, I say to you, you are doing all you can and please accept and love yourself.
Let’s explore some ideas of nurturing.
- Wear clothing that makes you feel good.
- Lotion your feet
- Get a facial (need a recommendation? Contact me)
- Get a massage (need a recommendation? Contact me)
- Have a coffee/tea/pop that you enjoy
- Get in your car and scream. You may giggle on this but really, it helps release tension.
- Tune into your body and do an exploration from the top of your head to the tips of your toes
- Breathe
Here’s to a week of accepting and loving yourself!
